- The objective of this course is to offer a broad overview of the major topics and modeling tools of modern international economics. The course starts with the definition, terminology and principles of international economics. It continues with an introduction to national accounting and balance of payment identities. Students will be exposed to the advantages, disadvantages and current state of international trade in assets, good and services, and the effect of policies in the short run and the long run. The concluding part of the course is a brief discussion of currency crises models and of the economics of currency areas.

- The goal of this course is to increase understanding about modern theories of open economy macroeconomics, focusing on the role played by nominal and real exchange rates, current account dynamics and the effects of different economic policies. A particular attention is given to models of currency crisis and to the Optimum Currency Area theory
