Contents The module deals with the design of production buildings in the agro-livestock sector and the recovery of rural buildings. The course also addresses issues related to the science of drawing from the perceptive process to forms of digital representation and in particular freehand drawing and three-dimensional representation techniques.
Reference texts Available on Unistudium and/or at the Department library:
- Didactic slides by the teachers
- Chiumenti R., 2016. Costruzioni Rurali, Edagricole.
- Agostini S., 2015. Manuale di edilizia Rurale, Criteri di progettazione integrata. EdiSES
- Docci M., Gaiani M., Maestri D., 2011. "Scienza del Disegno" Seconda edizione. Città Studi, Novara.
Educational objectives The teaching represents the first approach that students have with the issues of design. The course has the general purpose of making the student able to control the elements of design and representation relating to the production buildings of the agro-zootechnical sector.
The primary knowledge acquired will be related to:
- essential elements of complex systems theory and modeling;
- functions and construction types of the main production buildings in the agro-livestock sector;
- knowledge of the main layouts of production buildings.
- knowledge of the general guidelines that should guide the design of a production building
- knowledge of the principles of perception and two-dimensional and three-dimensional representation
- basic knowledge of CAD / BIM tools

the main skills (i.e. the ability to apply the knowledge acquired) will be:
- analyze the criticalities and the potentialities of a productive building and / or a rural building
- produce a technical report illustrating a design
- develop a three-dimensional project in a CAD environment
- ability to identify solutions to a complex problem and know how to translate them into practice
Prerequisites None
Teaching methods The teaching is organized with:
- Lectures in the classroom to explain the key concepts with the help of audio and video material
- Collaborative lessons where students will research positive and critical experiences of designing productive buildings in groups and/or individually and will learn to discuss them in class
- Presentation of the main types of company layouts used in the agro-zootechnical sector:
- At least two seminars with external experts
- whenever possible, visits to companies in the agro-zootechnical sector
- using the representation tools provided during the lessons, students will practice in the production of graphic drawings made both freehand and in digital format.
Other information Attendance is not mandatory but strongly recommended.
Learning verification modality The method of verification of the two modules takes place in an integrated form and is described in the overall course description
Extended program Elements of Constructions
Students will be presented, also in the form of company layouts, the main buildings used in the agro-zootechnical sector:
- the rural house
- Livestock buildings
- The drying plants
- the greenhouses
- The buildings of the dairy industry
- Buildings serving the wine industry
- buildings serving the oil industry

Drawing principles
- The basics of the perceptual process;
- The perception of space and its laws according to the Gestalt school;
- The preparatory sketch: the creative phase of the design process;
- The representation of space: the foundations of projective geometry;
- The orthogonal projections and hints of perspective;
- Forms of digital representation;
- Digital representation in three dimension

Contents This part of the course is dedicated to urban planning.
The main topics are:
ELEMENTS OF THE URBAN PLANNING
THE DIMENSIONAL CONTROL OF THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT
MUNICIPAL SPATIAL PLANS
TYPE OF INTERVENTIONS IN BUILDING

Each year, the students in groups and/or individually will choose, together with the teacher, a study area for which to analyze the forecasts of the Municipal Plan and produce a Certificate of Urban Available Uses.
Reference texts Available on Unistudium and/or at the Department library:
- Didactic slides by the teacher
- Aleo M., 2008, Urbanistica. Strumenti delle politiche territoriali e urbane, Grafill
- Gabellini P., 2018. Le mutazioni dell’urbanistica. Carocci Editore.

Educational objectives - Ability to read and interpret Municipal plans
- Ability to prepare a Certificate of Urban Available Uses for a given area
- Ability to read and interpret the building interventions that can be implemented in the area and the administrative / authorization documents necessary for their realization
Prerequisites
Teaching methods The teaching is organized with:

- Lectures in the classroom to explain the key concepts with the help of audio and video material

Each year, students will choose a study area with the teacher to be analyzed in groups and/or individually. Regarding the selected areas, will take place:

- collaborative lessons to interpret the rules and the guidelines of the Municipal plans

- collaborative lessons for the production of cartographic and textual documents to analyze and describe the forecasts and prescriptions concerning their study areas
