Educational objectives
Theoretical knowledge:
Geodesy and cartography: surfaces and reference systems for cartographic representation and Italian map typologies;
Land surveying: methods and techniques for land survey using modern instruments;
Geographic Information Systems: acquisition, analysis and representation of spatial data;
Remote Sensing: Principles of satellite and UAV imagery processing for landscape mapping and application in Precision Agriculture.

Applied knowledge:
Geodesy and cartography: coordinate calculation and transformation using main reference systems, recognizing and use of main Italian map typologies;
Land surveying: basic land survey using Total Station and GNSS;
Geographic Information Systems: representation and analysis and of spatial data using GIS;
Remote Sensing: retrieval, preprocessing, classification and representation of satellite imagery, vegetation indices calculation and interpretation.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge on informatics and descriptive statistics.
Good knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
Teaching methods
Theoretical lessons will be developd with the aid of powerpoint slides.
Practical training will be carried out on paper and digital maps and geo-data provided by the teacher, using various types of software.
A landscape analysis project and report will be developed during GIS lessons by each student.
The land surveying tutorials will be conducted in the field using a total station and GNSS receiver (GPS + GLONASS).
At least two seminars will be hold by external experts.
Other information
Additional information for learning diasablities are available at: http://www.unipg.it/disabilita-e-dsa
Learning verification modality
It is based on quality of in itinere works and on a final oral exam. By means of the former the practical knowledge acquired in the field of cartography, GIS, Remote Sensing will be assessed. The report will be mainly developed by each student during the practical lessons and submitted before the final test using Unistudium. The final examination, as well as including a discussion of the aforementioned work, will cover all theoretical contents and applications developed during the lessons.
For the purposes of the overall assessment, the quality of the in itinere works will account for 30%, while the oral part will account for the remaining 70%.
