Contents Drawning on the experiences of the United States, the legal clinics, active at the Law Department of the University of Perugia, aim to combine theory and practice, providing students with a social and collective approach to law.
Reference texts The material to be studied varies from case to case. Students will be coordinated by tutors for the bibliographic and jurisprudential research.
Educational objectives The course follows the clinical method made of theoretical and a practical component. As part of the first, students are provided with essential elements aimed at framing the general profiles of the legal issues involve in the cases treated by the clinic and highlighting the implications and objectives in terms of access to justice. Led by the teachers and with the help and supervision of the lawyers and tutors who cooperate with the structure, the clinicians will be engaged in the discussion and resolution of concrete cases proposed by the clients. The main activities will be consultancy and patronage, the first to provide interested parties with information about their situation, the second to promote the protection of the interests involved in the various offices in charge.
Prerequisites basic notion of private law and public law.

Extended program The issues addressed within this program - health, environment, common goods - are selected with the aim of promoting the development of a critical awareness of the current legal system and its mechanisms. Much is also favored by the interdisciplinary character of the legal knowledge produced within the clinics which, by their nature, cross knowledge and transversal skills of the different fields of law.
