- The course deals with the problems of the development of the formal language of Greek art in relation to historical contexts, social dynamics, questions of patronage, the cultural function of the mythical heritage, and the aesthetic and expressive dynamics of Greek civilisation.
The problems will be addressed according to the usual periodisation of the Geometric, Orientalising, Archaic, Severe, Classical and Hellenistic ages.
The same perspective will be used for the understanding of the development of formal languages in Roman art, distinguished in particular between the Age of Formation, the Republican Age, Early Imperial Art, and the Late Antique Age.
Particular attention will be paid to the relationship between the figurative culture of the Latin world and the Greek artistic tradition. - Obiettivi Agenda 2030 per lo sviluppo sostenibile
