Educational objectives

Know the main dynamics, roles and spaces on which the art system is based from the second half of the twentieth century to the threshold of the twenty-first century.
Knowing how to frame authors and phenomena in relation to periodic exhibitions, the exhibitions of the main private galleries and the role of great collectors.
Knowing how to communicate with a good knowledge of specific terminology organizational models, relationships between artists and the public, dynamics of the global art market.
Prerequisites

Knowledge of the foundations of twentieth century art history.

Learning verification modality

Oral examination

The test, lasting about 30 minutes, includes questions on the topics covered in class starting from the recognition of the works, and on the texts indicated in the bibliography.
The ability to organize, critically rework and expose the contents appropriately through an adequate reading of the works will be verified.

Students with disabilities and/or with SLD who, having completed regular accreditation through SOL, have obtained access to University services, can apply for compensatory tools, dispensatory measures and inclusive technologies ensured by law, to be requested and agreed with the teacher well in advance of tests and exams. At the origins of the modern contemporary art system: brief introduction in historical perspective on the relationship between artistic tendencies, exhibition occasions and the role of collectors.
The art market: typology and defining elements of the commercial value of the artistic product from the 1950s to the 1960s.
Trending exhibitions in public museums.
New exhibition spaces: from the artist's studio to international fairs.
The role of major collectors.
The relationship of the public with contemporary art: spaces and roles of communication, criticism and publishing.
The times of art: production, use, duration.
The new frontiers of artistic production: immateriality of the work of art and "overcoming the limit".
