Systematic Virology: Picornavirus, Poliovirus, Rhinovirus, Coronavirus, Orthomyxovirus, Paramyxovirus, Retrovirus (HIV), Togavirus, Flavivirus, Hepatitis A,B,C,D,E Virus, Herpesvirus, Adenovirus, Papillomavirus.
Notes on Zika virus, Ebola virus, Parvovirus.
Systematic Mycology: superficial and cutaneous mycoses, Candida spp., Aspergillus, Cryptococcus, Pneumocystis.
Systematic Parasitology: Plasmodium spp., Trichomonas, Toxoplasma, Giardia, Enterobius.

Educational objectives
The student must acquire the knowledge of the correct methods of collection of clinical samples for microbiological analyses. The student will also acquire the knowledge relating to the methods of isolation and identification of pathogenic microorganisms using traditional and molecular methods such as PCR and MALDI-TOF spectrometry and to perform susceptibility testing of antimicrobial drugs, particularly in the case of multi-resistant bacteria.

Practical activities in the ambulatory and laboratories of the Microbiology Unit of the Perugia General Hospital (groups of 4 students)
