Educational objectives

Teaching provides the main opportunity to learn the entire historical framework of medical- antropology and to measure oneself against ethnographic methodologies It is also a fundamental objective of the teaching to provide students with the basis and tools to deal with a cross-cultural discourse of anthropological-medical interpretation; therefore, the main knowledge acquired should cover:
1) Acquisition of cultural mediation skills in the clinical context.
2) Acquisition of cross-cultural capacity in the doctor-patient relationship.
3) Humanization.

Prerequisites

Perfect knowledge of Italian. In order to be able to understand and cope with the course, the student must possess the general notions related to the environmental context and the organization of the territory, both from the physical aspect and from the aspect of human presence, notions that the student should already have acquired in the schooling. This prerequisite applies to both attending and nonattending students.

Teaching methods

Fontal lessons and peer exercises.The prevailing teaching method involves face-to-face classroom lectures aided, when necessary, by multimedia tools; practical exercises, viewing of film-documentaries and in-depth seminars are also provided.

Educational objectives

Il corso si propone di fornire allo studente una visione d’insieme
dell’evoluzione dell’attività medico-assistenziale, nella prospettiva di una
sempre maggiore consapevolezza degli sviluppi storico-culturali e
metodologico-scientifici della professione, che lo renda criticamente
partecipe delle radici, delle basi teoriche, della storia, e della dimensione
del suo divenire, delle peculiarità epistemologiche, delle scoperte, delle
applicazioni e della dinamica di sviluppo dei rapporti professionali,
individuali, antropologici, etici e sociali.
Al termine del Corso lo studente dovrà:
• saper inquadrare in una prospettiva storica ed antropologica
l'evoluzione dei concetti di corpo, salute e malattia.
• avere una visione dinamica dei principali sviluppi teorici e pratici
dell’attività medico-assistenziale.
• avere una visione d'insieme degli sviluppi e del valore della
conoscenza e dell’attività medico-scientifica, che gli permetta una
immediata e critica consapevolezza dei progressi, dello stato, del
dibattito e delle sfide cui è giunta l'odierna medicina

• La medicina dell'Ottocento.
