Contents
At first we will present the definitions of traditional psychiatric symptomatology, with reference to the descriptive psychiatry. Then we analyze the relationship of psychiatry and the neurosciences. Then we will examine the major psychiatric and personality disorders as classified in DSM 5. Later we will discuss the foundations of psychodynamic psychiatry. We'll talk, later, of psychodynamic psychiatry foundations. In the next part we will consider psychiatric therapy (pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, psychosocial rehabilitation). Finally, we will discuss the problem of psychiatric emergencies and clinical legal issues in psychiatry.

Educational objectives
The student will learn the basic and fundamental concepts of psychiatric discipline.
This will serve to create the knowledge which will facilitate the understanding of this complex discipline.
The student through the acquisition of the basic elements will decode the complex and often incomprehensible psychiatric disorders. The student will also acquire the information needed for the historical and existential understanding of patients with these disorders.
The student, through the knowledge of psychiatry acquire professional skills that will remain part of himself and personal medical health practices.

Teaching methods The lessons will be in face-to-face mode. Within the course, working groups will be organized on topics related to the programme.

Extended program Understanding the cognitive and affective aspects that come into play when a child meets a doctor, a nurse, a rehabilitation therapist is extremely important in order to establish the best possible therapeutic alliance with the child himself and his family. During the course, human psychological development will be described in its essential features, from classical theories to applied aspects, with the aim of providing the indispensable basic knowledge needed by health professionals who find themselves working in close contact with children
