Educational objectives | The aim of the course is to provide students with a general overview of the diagnostic-therapeutic pathways in emergency surgery. In addition, the student should be know the main symptoms and clinical signs related to different emergency diseases. |
Prerequisites | Basic knowledge is need in anatomy, pathophysiology, semeiotic and surgical pathology. |
Teaching methods | Front-end lessons using powerpoint projections. The lesson material (except copyright-protected illustrations) is always made available to students electronically (file in pdf) the day before the lesson on the ateneum platform: https://www.unistudium.unipg.it/unistudium/login/index.php. |

Learning verification modality | Interview lasting approximately 15 minutes divided into 2 questions, 1 of which relating to oncological surgery and 1 to surgery for non-neoplastic pathologies. A further question may be asked in the event of an unsatisfactory answer to the 2 previous questions. |
Extended program | Acute appendicitis and their complications Diverticular disease and their complications Internal and external abdominal hernia The gallbladder lithiasis and its complications. Acute and chronic pancreatitis and its complications. The complicated peptic ulcer. |
