The course presents the basic themes of human geography, population and population movements, settlement; the relationships between population and territory are seen above all in terms of cultural geography. Insights are dedicated to examples of territorial enhancement (cultural, ecosystem, environmental).
Reference texts
G. De Vecchis e E. Boria, Manuale di geografia, Roma, Carocci, 2022.
D. Castagnoli, Green belt e altre espressioni di verde urbano. La tutela naturalistica nelle città europee, Bologna, Pàtron, 2019. The first text is intended as a manual, also useful for verifying the prerequisites; It should be addressed as a basic grammar of the course, to be used for the understanding of the topics presented in applied form in the second text.

Any slides shown on Unistudium are intended as a completion of the lessons and therefore mainly aimed at attending students.

The reference material is designed for attending and non-attending students. In case of specific needs (disability and SLD) please contact the professor.
Educational objectives
To achieve satisfactory knowledge of general and human geography in particular; know how to apply these concepts to the study of territorial assets (monumental and architectural, environmental, landscape).
The course is therefore well interrelated with the sector disciplines highlighted in the three fields of study and provides a spatial and territorial reference to the goods punctually analyzed, thus contributing to their interpretation and possible management (with reference to moving goods, sequential goods, cultural itineraries ...) in a future professional perspective.
Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of general Geography.
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons, projections
Other information
For specific educational needs (disability, SLD) you can contact the professor to modify the course and the exam methods.
Learning verification modality
A written test with open questions (three questions with answers each of fifteen lines) and oral (to confirm the vote) on the same topics of the course.
Information of services for disable and/or DSA students can be found at http://unipg.it/disabilita-e-dsa
Extended program
Territorial characteristics of the population: distribution and density, natural movement, short and long range migrations. Economic sectors and their modeling. The relationship between man and the environment in its many forms. The concept of cultural heritage. Capitalization. Territorial enhancement through national and international regulations and recognitions. Perception and planning of the inhabited territory.
A problematic study is recommended; Taking advantage of the basics of general geography, we practice during the lessons on the identification and understanding of case studies. Non-attending students must follow the same approach aimed at decoding reality.
