- Extended program
- From the end of the eighteenth century onwards, the figure of the artist and his activity underwent a profound transformation, fully entering the contemporary cultural and ideological debate. This change, the vivacity and scope of the critical debate that from that moment on invests the role of the arts in contemporary society, the birth of aesthetics and of the modern history of art, the philosophical speculation around the creative process, as well as the greater consistency of printed and archival-documentary sources, make the study of the history of art of the 19th and 20th centuries present different and more complex methodologies of interdisciplinary investigation. The program, therefore, will have as its object the analysis of some exemplary works through which students will be introduced to the basic concepts of modern critical and theoretical thinking and to the application of the main methodologies of analysis and interdisciplinary interpretation of contemporary art.
