Contents
The course aims to introduce students to the theoretical and practical knowledge of diagnostic assessment in clinical psychology, delving into the main assessment models and tools in the clinical setting with an evidence-based perspective. Regulatory and ethical elements of the psychologist's activity will also be explored.

Educational objectives
The course objectives are thus defined concerning the following domains:
Knowledge and comprehension skills: to enable the student to attain the fundamental knowledge on psychological assessment in the adult clinical setting through the use of a multi-method approach.
Application of knowledge: to enable the student to apply this knowledge to solve new situations related to psychological diagnosis as a core function of the psychological profession.
Autonomy of judgment: the student will be able to integrate knowledge acquired at a theoretical level with the specificity of concrete cases that he/she may encounter in work contexts.
Communication: the student will acquire specific terminology that will enable him/her to communicate with specialist (and non-specialist) interlocutors in the field and/or in an interdisciplinary manner.
Ability to learn: the student will develop the competence to study independently and to research specialized material in the sector also and through the use of bibliographic research in sector databases.
Prerequisites
To understand the theoretical intervention models proposed in lectures, it is important that the student has acquired knowledge in the fields of general psychology, dynamic psychology, and general psychopathology. It is also recommended that the student has knowledge of psychological interviewing techniques.
Teaching methods
The lectures will take place as face-to-face lecture for most of the arguments. Student’s active interaction is welcome.

Learning verification modality
There is a final evaluation consisting of a written examination lasting 1 hour and 20 minutes consisting of 30 closed questions (20 minutes) and 3 open questions (1 hour), to test the student's level of knowledge and understanding of individual assessment models in clinical and health psychology.

Assessment criteria:
- Closed questions: 1 point for a correct answer/0 points for a wrong or not answered.
- Open questions: each question is graded from 1 to 10 based on: Correctness of the answer (relevance), Coherence of the answer, and
Centredness of the answer.
Final grade: average of marks obtained on closed and open questions.

Students with disabilities and/or SLDs will have up to a maximum of 30% more time to take the test and may use any compensatory tools. Students with disabilities and/or SLDs are invited to visit the page on tools and measures and to agree in advance on what is necessary with the Professor (https://www.unipg.it/disabilita-e-dsa)

If the student intends to take the examination a year before the year scheduled in the study plan, it is recommended that he/she attends the cycle of lectures and takes the examination in the first useful call after the lectures have ended, thus respecting the semester in which the course is scheduled.
Extended program
Assessment models and diagnosis in clinical psychology from an evidence-based perspective.
Diagnostic tools for assessment: rudiments for the administration and interpretation of self-report questionnaires, performance-based tests and cognitive tests.
