- The "cantiere" (construction site) of the Upper Basilica of Assisi: the nave, the Franciscan cycle and the first reflections of Giotto style.
The course, in continuity with those already proposed, this time places attention on a junction of exceptional importance in medieval art, that of the construction site of Assisi and in particular the pictorial construction site of the upper basilica. The subject of in-depth analysis will be above all the nave and the Franciscan cycle, as well as the reflections of Giotto's culture limited to the early years of the 14th century. - Reference texts

- Educational objectives
- Deepen the knowledge of the pictorial production of the second half of the 13th century in a complex and international context such as the Assisi construction site.
-Ability to master the contents, frame the protagonists by knowing how to read their style, grasp the models, and framing the results in the artistic context of the time. -Mastery of a wide range of iconographic themes, technical language and the ability to argue with stylistic and critical issues. - Prerequisites
- Know the main lines of development of 13th and 14th century art in line with the three-year degree program.
Adequate knowledge of medieval history with particular reference to the final centuries of the Middle Ages (XII-XIV) - Teaching methods
- Frontal lessons with the aid of images.

Educational outings. - Learning verification modality
- Oral exam, lasting approximately 25 minutes, with the aid of images used during the course and provided to students at the end of the course itself.
