Contents The course aims to transmit critical-operational skills in the field of fashion considered in the broadest sense of its possible applications: from conception to design, from communication to consumption.

Educational objectives The course aims to provide students with the tools to understand and apply the strategies, methods and instruments that characterise the field of fashion design.
To this end, the course aims to provide students with:
• knowledge of a theoretical and analytical nature, mainly aimed at understanding the evolutionary processes of fashion design in the international and national scenario (also through the in-depth study of company case studies specifically related to Made in Italy) but also at enhancing a design sensitivity capable of embracing contemporary social needs and emergencies (from gender identity to Fast fashion)
• knowledge of a technical and design nature, relating to the product conception and realisation phase, as well as to the subsequent phases of visual communication and exhibition design.
Teaching methods The course consists of theoretical lectures, specialised seminars and design practice.
Other information The professor will communicate with students for exam results and/or course materials via www.unistudium.unipg.it.
Learning verification modality The examination includes an individual oral test focusing on the discussion of theoretical content and the presentation of design practice. These tests are aimed at verifying the level of cognitive, critical and relational skills.
Extended program Acquire a basic knowledge of the theories, methods and tools related to the field of Fashion design;
acquire a critical sensitivity regarding contemporary artistic languages and possible contaminations and intersections with the field of Fashion design;
acquire a basic knowledge of the most advanced materials related to Fashion design (from natural materials to 'intelligent' materials);
acquire a basic knowledge of the production organisation of the fashion system;
acquire an adequate knowledge of the history of fashion design;
to develop an awareness of the relationship between product design and the dialogue with the fields of visual communication (also acquiring a maturity in the use of the photographic tool) and of exhibition design (with reference both to more traditional retail spaces and to temporary exhibitions).

Educational objectives The course aims to provide students with the necessary skills to use photography as a tool of information and knowledge.
The students will acquire the ability of reading, interpreting and using photography in the various fields of application, with specific reference to Interior Design, Exhibit Design, Retail Design, Fashion Design and Product Design.

Teaching methods The course is divided into theoretical and practical lessons.

Learning verification modality The exam consists of a final oral test, i.e. a discussion-interview on the topics of the course. The interview will verify that the student is able to discuss what learnt during the course with method, propriety of language and of exposure. The duration of the test varies depending on the performance of the test itself.
