Educational objectives
The student will be able to know the most important surgical pathologies, to perform a correct clinical examination and specifically a surgical-oriented examination, to distinguish the signs and symptoms of the different affections and finally to uderstand the severity degree of every single disease
Prerequisites
To the able to understand and face the course, the student must have successfully completed the preparatory exam described in the degree program regulation, in fact, the general knowledge of anatomy , physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, pathological anatomy and radiodiagnostics are an indispensable prerequisite for the student who wants to follow the course successfully

Students attend the operating theatres in groups and attend interventions for pathologies inherent in the programme

METHOD OF CONDUCTING THE EXAM: Oral test divided into 2 questions, 1 of which is chosen by the candidate and one chosen by the commission, with a discussion aimed at ascertaining the level of knowledge, the ability to understand and summarize achieved by the student as well as verify the acquisition of method, language properties and exposition.
The interview is divided into the different thematic areas that characterize the teaching with a duration varying from 15/30 minutes. which varies in relation to the progress of the test itself. Further questions on the minimum necessary knowledge may be asked in the case of unsatisfactory answers to the previous questions.
TESTING OF CLINICAL SKILLS: interpretation of a clinical case presented verbally by the commission
VERIFICATION OF THE SKILLS ACQUIRED DURING THE INTERNSHIP: description of a surgical procedure
METHOD OF ALLOCATION OF THE FINAL MARK: arithmetic average of the votes obtained in the individual disciplines

- Abdominal pain: characteristics of onset, location,
frequency and severity.
- Acute abdomen from:
a) acute appendicitis

-Occlusione Intestinal mechanical characteristics and treatment:
a) treatment of the specific problems of occlusion ileal:
- From postoperative adhesions

Surgical suture and surgical techniques. Evaluation and first surgical therapies in politrauma.
Shock. Evaluation of acute abdomen. Inflammatory, occlusive, vascular and haemorragic acute abdomen. Peritonitis and abdominal abcesses. Abdominal surgical oncology. Gastrointestinal bleeding. Surgical treatment of thyroid and breast diseases . Postoperative complications.
