- Educational objectives
- At the end of the study the student will be able to acquire the basic knowledge of the characteristics and use of biomolecules Furthermore, they will have acquired new knowledge relating to the diagnostic and therapeutic applications of some macromolecules.
- Prerequisites
- The course aims to address topics that the student will be able to follow if he has acquired the basic knowledge of general and molecular biochemistry. In order to understand the contents covered, it is essential that the student has acquired the fundamental notions on the structure and function of the main biological macromolecules and the fundamental mechanisms underlying the cellular regulatory processes.
- Teaching methods
- The course is organized as follows: Lectures in the classroom covering all the topics of the program.
- Learning verification modality
- The test will include an oral exam during which the student will have to answer questions concerning topics covered during the frontal lessons and listed in the programme. During the oral test, the student will have to demonstrate consistency with the proposed question, clarity of presentation and correctness of scientific terminology.
- Extended program
- - Biomolecules, structure and function
-The concept of metabolic network.
- The omic sciences: proteomic, genomic and lipidomic
Databases as tools for similarity search or sequence alignment.
- Nanoparticles and interaction with biological systems.
- protein and lipids as diagnostic and therapeutic targets
for the treatment of pathologies, such as neurodegenerative diseases. - Obiettivi Agenda 2030 per lo sviluppo sostenibile
- Health and wellness.
