Educational objectives
The main objective is to provide specific knowledge and expertise by integrating the knowledge provided by the degree course in Medicine and Surgery at the vocational training and lessions.

The main skills that students will acquire:

Knowledge of the basic elements of Orthopedics and Traumatology, to get a common terminology and to have the knowledge of the main diseases and / or injuries of the musculoskeletal system, especially in the etiopathogenesis and clinical manifestations.

Know how to recover and simplest gestures and those typical after an injury and / or disease

knowledge of the general concepts of orthopedics and traumatology

knowledge of the major tissues of the musculoskeletal system: anatomy-tissue biology and biomechanics.

terminology of the movement in different planes. Gait analysis and the correct and incorrect positions.

Tendonitis and their complications, muscle injuries. Major diseases upper limb, lower spine and pelvis
Prerequisites
To be able to understand the course, the student must get over, with success, the preparatory exams described in the regulation on the degree course. knowledge of general nissues of anatomy, physiology and general pathology is a ppositive background for the student who wants to follow the course with profit.

Learning verification modality
The interview is divided in different thematic areas that characterize the teaching issues. All of them are about 15/30 minutes long and they vary in relation to the progress of the exam. It consists of at least one question on each of the three ares:

1 in Traumatology of the Locomotor System, 1 in Orthopedic Pathologies, 1 in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in Orthopedics and Traumatology.

Verification of clinical skills: it is based on theoretical knowledge of each pathology and/or traumatic injury, epidemiology, aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical and instrumental diagnostics, conservative and surgical treatment, rehabilitation, methods of carrying out the various clinical and instrumental tests.

Verification of the skills acquired during the fellowship: the student must demonstrate that they have acquired, by attending the orthopedic emergency room and the department, all the elements that lead to the precise qualitative and quantitative diagnosis and the most appropriate treatment. By attending the Follow Up Clinics you have to demonstrate that you have understood the correct post-operative procedure.
