- The main objective of the course is to provide specific knowledge and interpretative tools to understand how the history of education and educational institutions is intrinsically linked to every aspect of civil life.
The course intends to:
• provide the fundamental lines of the history of education from antiquity to today
• help acquire knowledge and skills about education in a historical perspective, using a critical gaze
• understand the key moments in the history of schools in Italy from 1859 to the present day.
• analyze the history of female education as a phenomenon linked to the social, cultural and anthropological conceptions of women. - Reference texts

- At the end of the course, students will have acquired solid historical knowledge regarding the processes that led to today's school from an institutional and educational/didactic point of view;
they will be able to read current phenomena with a critical eye, through historical analysis, and implement reflections relating to the improvement of contemporary schools;

- Oral exam lasting approximately 15 minutes, aimed at verifying the student's ability to present the knowledge acquired during the course and to be able to critically examine historical experiences with respect to contemporary educational problems.
