- Extended program
- The course is ideally divided into three sections. The first section will illustrate and discuss the evolution of the internet, the web, and social media, taking a long-term view and emphasising continuity and discontinuity with mass media studies paradigms.
The second section, dedicated to theories, will present the main theoretical and interpretative frameworks of processes and phenomena within the macro- and micro-sociological scope.
The third section will look at the perspectives of internet studies. Topics related to web cultures will be discussed, with a focus on digital platforms and social network sites, the emergence of specific social aggregates, the logic behind media manipulation, and algorithm and AI research.
