The course faces the molecular aspects of modern microbiology and in particular the evolutionary and genomic aspects of microbial diversity and the new experimental approaches for its study.
Further, the course introduces the applications of microrganisms and their metabolism products in industrial microbiology and microbial biotechnology

Part II: INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGY AND MICROBIAL BIOTECHNOLOGY
Microorganisms for industrial e biotechnological applications; Screening and optimization of microbial strains; Fermentors and bioreactors; Scale-up and optimization of industrial processes; Primary and secondary metabolites; Biotransformations; Environmental biotechnology.
