- The course syllabus is organized into four parts: epistemological assumptions and theoretical challenges of social work; theoretical-operational models of social work, with special emphasis on the study of the theoretical assumptions of the systemic-relational method; theoretical aspects of the assessment of the demand for help; and the Code of Ethics for Social Workers.

- Educational objectives
- To provide students with knowledge of the historical evolution of the social work profession and the disciplinary tradition of social service, with reference to the relevant historical and cultural contexts. Fundamental is the knowledge of the methodological procedure of social service, which in the context of the course is placed in constant relation in relation to the theoretical assumptions of the disciplinary tradition. To provide an understanding of the epistemological foundations, theoretical contributions, principles and values proper to the profession of social work, as well as the code of ethics.
- Prerequisites
- It is preferable for the student to possess humanistic-psychological knowledge.
- Teaching methods
- Lectures. The course then includes in-depth seminar activities relating to specific aspects of the helping process, with the possibility of involving experts. Possibility of conducting dialogic and circular exercises and discussions with the lecturer, complementary to the lectures.
- Learning verification modality
- Oral examination with an interview lasting a maximum of thirty minutes. The Professor provides for the possibility of a written test at the end of the course. The written test consists of multiple-choice and open questions on the programme content.
