- Extended program
- In the aftermath of the political transformations of 2011, a few Arab countries entered a new political phase. The political transitions that were initiated by the collapse of long-standing regimes in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen were prompted by public uprisings. In other countries, such as Morocco and Algeria, protests did not result in the overthrow of institutions. However, the implementation of new political and institutional frameworks does not consistently correspond with genuine democratic practices. Internal conflicts, including religious, ethnic, and linguistic ones, will be the primary focus of this course, which will analyze the political assets of North African states from a historical perspective.
