Educational objectives
The student is expected to develop a critical awareness of the main paradigms that have shaped the development of scientific thought, as well as of the epistemological foundations of scientific inquiry, with particular attention to issues related to professional ethics. The course aims at: the acquisition of both philosophical and historical-scientific content within an interdisciplinary framework; the ability to read and interpret selected texts; and the development of critical, interpretative, and analytical skills.

The course aims to clarify the epistemological foundations of scientific inquiry by examining key paradigms in the history of scientific thought. A portion of the course will be devoted to exploring professional ethics (terminology and theoretical models), with particular attention to Alasdair MacIntyre’s concept of practice.
