Educational objectives The aim of the course is to: - provide students with a comprehensive and thorough understanding of consumer protection legislation through an examination of the main interpretative issues raised by it; - enable students to understand the general principles underlying consumer legislation.
Prerequisites Adequate knowledge acquired during one's studies
Teaching methods The course consists of lectures on the topics covered in the programme and also includes an analysis of the rulings of the EU Court of Justice, national courts, and the measures taken by the AGCM (Italian Competition Authority) on the most relevant and controversial aspects of the subject.
Learning verification modality The assessment method will consist of an oral exam aimed at ascertaining the level of knowledge achieved by the student on the contents indicated in the programme.
Extended program The course covers the general guidelines of the EU and national regulatory framework for the protection of consumer rights. Particular attention will be paid to fundamental consumer rights; unfair terms; rules on commercial advertising and accurate information; unfair commercial practices; provisions on product safety, quality and conformity; liability for defective products; consumer credit and the phenomenon of over-indebtedness; remedies and access to justice on an individual and collective basis.
