- Practical activity to be carried out on clinical cases that present in OVUD. Problems regarding the main neoplasms of dogs and cats will be addressed and discussed collegially from both a clinical and management point of view with particular attention to oncological hemopathies. The discussion will focus on clinical aspects, diagnostic process and therapeutic approach.

- Educational objectives
- D1 KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY The Student must know the main neoplastic pathologies of small animals, in particular oncological blood diseases; the clinical-diagnostic process, with particular attention to laboratory tests; principles of chemotherapy and side effects of antiblastic therapy. D2 CAPACITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY At the end of the training activity the Student must be able to consider differential diagnoses, propose a diagnostic investigation protocol and propose an appropriate treatment. D3 AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT At the end of the training activity, the Student must be able to: issue a diagnostic suspicion referable to the neoplastic pathology, choose the diagnostic investigation protocol, propose the treatment giving indications about the monitoring of the oncological patient. D4 COMMUNICATION SKILLS At the end of the training activity, the Student must be able to communicate with Colleagues and with the owners of the animals.
- Prerequisites
- The Student must have passed the exam of Special Pathology and Medical Clinic I. The student must have knowledge of laboratory diagnostics and small animal hematology.
- Teaching methods
- The first day is dedicated to verifying the level of knowledge and amalgamating the group by presenting an oncological clinical case, stimulating discussion. In the following days, practical activities begin on oncological animals that present in OVUD. Students are required to collect anamnesis, visit the animal, propose the diagnostic process and advance a diagnostic suspicion after diagnostic investigations. Students must also propose a therapy following protocols. They must also consider the management of the patient by evaluating the side effects of the drugs used. They must simulate the confrontation with the owners.

- Students must be provided with appropriate clothes for clinical activities in OVUD.

- The idoneativa test is based on the clinical examination of one or more animals and on the discussion of clinical cases (100%)
