Italian. The attendance to the classes is highly suggested to the international and Erasmus students who opt for this course. Upon request some didactic documents may be recommended in foreign languages too (English , French, Spanish). For any clarification please contact the teacher before the lessons start.

Topics and problems of: Human Geography, Economic G., Political G. and G. of communication. Transformations of geographical space related to media’s diffusion and networks communication impact. Territories, regions, networks, the local milieu. The world system. Globalization of the economy and articulation of the world space. Demographic trends and migratory movements. Industrial relations, industrial districts, multinational companies. Telecommunications in the global economy, telecommunications and territory: the digital divide. Cities as centers of the economy. The growth of cities, the urban functions. Economic development and the inequalities; comparing models: growth, degrowth, sustainability. Territorial communication: elements of urban and territorial marketing. Geopolitics and communication. Soft and smart power. How to communicate UE.

Educational objectives
At the end of the course the student knows: the main themes of Human Geography, Economic G., Political G. and G. of communication; the problems and the prospects of the contemporary world; the natural and human components of a territory; the graphical representations, cartographic representations and satellite images, and how to use them in the context of didactic, classroom or laboratory.
Prerequisites
In order to be able to understand and to know how to tackle the course, students must have the basic notions of the environmental context and organization of the territory, either in physical term and regarding the human activities related to it (these are notions that the student should have already acknowledged in his/her school curriculum). Basic requirement is also the possession of knowledge in Regional Geography.
Teaching methods
The course is usually organized as follows:
- lectures will deal all the issues of the course;
- a guided survey will allow students to verify some issues shown in class.

Learning verification modality
Attending students may take an intermediate test in November (written test, usually of two/three open questions). Final exam will be written, usually with two/three open questions, on the topics covered in the course and on the studied texts. The test verifies the level of knowledge and understanding, as well as synthesis’ skills achieved by the student. A subsequent short oral test will verify student’s communicational skills.
Attending students who supported the intermediate test may replace the final test making a product, designed for the new communication technologies, which aimes at communicate/promote a territory of interest. The work will focus on the enhancement of at least five resources / local specificities.
