Contents In the course, an introduction to chemical and physical behaviors of the
hydrosphere and geosphere environmental compartments will be presented. Study of water and soil's chemistry and main pollutants will be performed,
together with notes on some biofuels and their environmental
implications

Educational objectives Students attending the course know: the chemical-physical average
composition of the environmental spheres, the nature and
properties of main potential pollutants and the principles on which are
based the interventions focused to monitoring, prevention and
remediation of environmental pollution phenomena, both chronic and
acute. Based on this knowledge they will be able to: identify what may be
the main sources of pollution and the major consequences on the
ecosystem equilibrium; program the actions to be done in order to
prevent and/or remedy any environmental damage.
Prerequisites The topics covered in the course are, by their very nature, multidisciplinary.
The student has to have an adequate knowledge of the three basic
chemical disciplines (organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and physical
chemistry) to attend the Course profitable
Teaching methods The course is organized with lectures on all subjects of the program.
When possible, 2-4 hours didactic visits in laboratories and plants
involved in environmental problematic will be planne
Other information N.N.
Learning verification modality The exam consists of an oral test of sufficient duration to ascertain the
level of knowledge and understanding acquired by the student on the
contents of the program.
