- The course can be divided into three parts. The first introduces some basic concepts of microeconomics and macroeconomics regarding production costs and markets applied to the agri-food system. The second part analyzes some peculiarities of the agricultural enterprise, with reference to the Italian reality; in particular we will analyze the figure of the agricultural entrepreneur, the factors of production in agriculture, the income statement and the balance sheet and the efficiency indices. The third part is a quick discussion of the articulation of the EU agricultural policy

- There is no reference text: the teacher will provide students with material in the classroom
- Educational objectives
- The course aims to provide students with the basic knowledge of economic thinking, as well as the conceptual foundations necessary to understand the functioning of the agricultural enterprise and of the agro-food system as a whole. Through this the student will acquire the knowledge, analysis tools and management techniques necessary to understand the phenomena related to the agricultural enterprise.
- Prerequisites
- Knowledge of basic mathematics concepts is required, which the student should already possess from high school or recover with the mathematics exam.
- Teaching methods
- Frontal lessons on all course topics, in-depth seminars on specific topics, such as; practical exercises (exercises, data processing, etc.)
- Learning verification modality
- The student's assessment takes place through a written test which is accompanied by an oral interview in which the topics of the written test are deepened. The writing consists of 8 open questions and 2 exercises lasting one hour and is considered passed with a minimum mark of 15/30. Access to the oral test is subject to passing the written one.

Community agricultural policy, with reference to the 1st Pillar
