- Educational objectives
- Knowledge of principles of Pharmacotherapy, with particular reference to chemoterapeutic, anti-inflammatory, cardiovascular, metabolic, anti-depression, ansiolytic, neurodegenerative diseases drugs and biodrugs, such as monoclonal antibodies. The student will also acquire the capacity to afford additional therapeutic classes of drugs not discussed in the present course.

- General principles of pharmacotherapy. ADR. Immunotoxicity and drug allergy. Pharmacology of monoclonal antibodies. Vaccines. Antineoplastic, antibacterial, and antiviral chemotherapy: general principles and main drug families. Physiopathology of inflammation. Nonsteroidal and steroidal antiinflammatory drugs. Therapy of rheumatoid arthritis. Pharmacology of diabetes mellitus and obesity.
Principles of neurotransmission in the peripheral and central nervous systems. Pharmacology of the cardiovascular system. Anti-hypertensive drugs. Diuretics.
Therapy of gastric ulcer. Pharmacology of pain and principal classes of pain blockers. Pharmacology of depression and anxiety. Anti-epilectics drugs. Pharmacology of schizophrenia.
Pharmacotherapy of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Drug tolerance and dependence.
