The program aims to illustrate the basic points of the teaching of economics, grounded on teaching experience in a university course in Law, finalizing the concepts to juridical studies. Concepts and problems addressed in various fields of the economy will be explained in a simple way, in particular with regard to economic method and terminology. These will be applied to profiles on consumers, manufacturers, economic institutions, international economic relations, public finance and connected social problems.
Reference texts
Basic reference text is ANTONELLI et. al.: ECONOMIA, ed. Giappichelli, Torino, latest edition, together with NOTE DI FINANZA PUBBLICA, pdf available online. Students regularly attending lessons might use documents available online.
Educational objectives
Students will, mainly through correct acquisition of economic terminology and concepts, be in a position to understand the method of economic reasoning applied to relevant problems of real life. They will acquire the basic and simple knowledge to study and deepen economic concepts applied to different fields of law, in line with their university education.
Prerequisites
Students must be in possession of sufficient knowledge to understand explanations presented also with graphics, numerical examples and internet teaching/research. For a good understanding of the subject taught preparation required is that equivalent to a successful completion of higher education courses, including concepts of geometry and mathematics at basic level. Complementary knowledge of historical and philosophical profiles might be very useful too. Individual propensity to keep up to date with current issues of economy, even at journalistic level, might be helpful.

Learning verification modality
The final exam consists of a written/oral test. Questions focus on topics described by the teacher in the program, taking account of the knowledge of the subject, the capability to discuss and argument logically and the level of learning within the teaching method proper of the course.

Final exams include a preliminary written test, necessary for complete explanation of graphs and numerical exercises, fundamental for any examination in economics. Failure in performance of the preliminary test precludes the positive outcome of the final exam. The exam will take about 45 minutes.
Extended program
The program is divided into three parts:
1. Microeconomics (theory of consumption and production), market and firm.
2. Macroeconomics: keynesian and monetarist theories, inflation, unemployment, foreign sector, UE economics.
3. Public finance: general principles.
