Educational objectives
The main objective is to provide the main knowledge of the basic elements of Orthopedics and Traumatology of sport or related to motor activity.

Acquire a common terminology and have the knowledge of the main pathologies and / or lesions of the musculoskeletal system, especially in the etiopathogenesis and clinical manifestations.

Knowledge of recovery methods and simpler gestures and typical ones after an injury and / or pathology.
Prerequisites
To be able to understand and face the course, the student must get over the exam preparatory described in the regulation on the degree course, with huge success. knowledge of anatomy, physiology and general pathology is a positive background for the student who wants to follow the course with profit.

Learning verification modality
The exam includes an oral exam consisting of a discussion focused to the evaluation of the level of knowledge, comprehension and synthesis achieved by the student as well as the evaluation of method, of language and exposure.

Conducting the interview is divided into several thematic areas that characterize the teaching with lasting about 15/30 min. It could vary in relating to the performance of the test.

General concepts of orthopedics and traumatology, with particular reference to sport. Functional anatomy of the main constituents of the locomotor system.
General classification of pathologies and injuries of the musculoskeletal system.
Clinical and instrumental examination, with particular attention to functional evaluations
Biomechanical. Various types of lameness
Traumatic injuries of the musculoskeletal system: bruises, wounds, sprains, dislocations and fractures. General concepts on fractures. Various types of fractures. Sports fractures and sports.
Main traumatic injuries of the pelvis, lower limb, upper limb, rachis, with specific references to etiopathogenesis, rehabilitation-rehabilitation, prevention and return to activities. In particular: ligament injuries of the knee, meniscal injuries, ligament injuries of the ankle, shoulder instability, rotator cuff injury
Tendinopathies: from sport-specific pathogenesis to returning to the field. Main locations: rectus adductor, patellar, yarrow, goose paw, epicondylar, epitrochlear, De Quervain's disease, trigger finger.
Muscle injuries: epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation-re-education and prevention. Main localizations (sural twins, quadriceps and hamstrings)
Arthrosis: therapeutic diagnostic management. Main locations: hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, hand, spine
- Main pathologies of the spine, upper limb and lower limb in the various age groups, with specific references to etiopathogenesis, rehabilitation-rehabilitation, prevention and return to activities. In particular: femoroacetabular impingement, Perthes disease, epiphysiolysis, patellofemoral syndrome and patella instability, chondral lesions and osteochondritis dissecans, Osgood Schlatter and Sinding Larsen Johansson syndrome, varus and valgus knee, ankle impingement, flat foot and cord, hallux valgus, shoulder impingement syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren's disease, disc disease, herniated disc, spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis, curved back, scoliosis
Rehabilitation-re-education of the unstable and painful shoulder
Role of motor activity in the prevention and treatment of pathologies of children, adolescents, adults and the elderly.
