Educational objectives | At the end of the course students will have learned the pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, undesirable side effects, toxicological aspects, the therapeutic foundations and methods of administration of drugs most important in medical practice. Should be aware of the factors that influence the pharmacological effect and / or therapeutic, as well as the risk / benefit ratio of drug therapy. Must know how to make a reasoned choice of drugs in relation to different pathological situations. |
Prerequisites | In order to achieve the intended learning outcomes, the student must have a solid background in anatomy, physiology and general pathology. The student must have already passed the other exams considered as preparatory by the Academic Regulations. |
Teaching methods | lessons face-to-face Mandatory attendence |
Learning verification modality | Written exam and oral exam The test focuses globally on the entire program. The test consists of 62 multiple choice quiz with five possible answers of which only one is correct; The exam duration time is 1 hour and 15 minutes. For the evaluation of the test takes into account the following criteria: - 0.5 points for each correct answer; - Less than 0.1 points for each wrong answer; - 0 points for each question not answered; The written exam is passed if for each test is obtained a score of at least 18/30. The oral test is mandatory, concerns topics of the entire program and is primarily designed to evaluate the ability to apply their knowledge for the proper use of the drugs in clinical practice. Final vote accounts for 40% of the vote overall written test and 60% vote of the oral test. |
Extended program | General principles Origin and Drug Classification Pharmacokinetics Routes of administration Absorption, bioavailability Distribution Metabolism Elimination Main pharmacokinetic parameters: volume of distribution, half-life, clearance Pharmacokinetics quantitative kinetics of zero order and first order Clinical pharmacokinetics, kinetics of the drug administered in repeated doses, the concept of steady state Pharmacodynamics Drug-drug interaction recetthours Agonists, antagonists, partial agonists and inverse Dose-response curves and curves quantal Affinity, potency, efficacy, therapeutic index Molecular structure of receptors Mechanisms of signal transduction Regulation of receptor response Mechanism of action of drugs and correlation between concentration and pharmacological effect of drugs |
