Educational objectives Knowing pharmacological and adverse effects of drugs most commonly used
Prerequisites In order to fully understand and apply most knowledge of the course it is important and useful having successfully passed the following exams of first year: "Molecular and cellular basis of life", Anatomical-physiological basis of the human body", "Basis of nursing care", "Help and adaptation relationship", "Promotion of health and safety", "Physiopathological basis of diseases". Additionally it is fundamental to haing passes the exam of "Pharmacology and nursing ". Students need, in fact, to know the pathophysiological basis of diseases and the basic principles of pharmacology.
Teaching methods THe module is organized as follows:
class lessons on all the issues of the module;
drillings in groups of 10 people (maximum) in didactic lab on the effect of drugs on pathological cells. Students can continue to go to the lab on a voluntary basis;
DVD projection on drugs and medical issues;
Evaluation of learned knowledge and of critical judgement ability developed by administration of tests to small groups of students that will discuss between them in order to correctly answer different questions.

Via Oberdan 123, Foligno (PG), rooms of nursing school.
Learning verification modality Written exam of infectious diseases and concurrent oral exams of pharmacology, internal medicine and clinical nursing.
The oral exam consists in a discussion of about 30 minutes. During this discussion the student must show to have reached a good level of knowledge and comprehension on theory and methods of the program (most of all on nursing methods beside pharmacology and diet knowledge. The oral exam will evaluate also the communication, the language and the autonomy skills of the students. Students can be driven, during the exam, by immagines showed in the class lessons.
All considered, the exam allows to know the ability to learn, the level of knowledge and the critical ability of the students, beside their capacity to talk and to apply knowledge learned.
Extended program Pain drugs: pathophisiology, NSAIDs, Opioids and local aenestetics; pharmacology of inflammation: glucocorticoids; anti-infection chemotherapy: anti-bacterial drugs; adrenergic drugs.
