Extended program The aim of the course is the analysis of the pragmatic aspects of linguistic communication.
The knowledge gained in the description of levels of grammar will supplemented by consideration of language as a system designed not only to 'speak', but also to 'communicate'. In fact, the ability to interact through language involves a complex set of skills that go far beyond the linguistic competence in the strict sense. Knowing how to interact with the language means being able to operate on textual units complex, plans to process and understand inference, to recognize the link between text and context, to identify the function of each communicative act and the purposes for which it was drawn.
This knowledge enables us to correctly identify the 'meaning of the speakers' (as well as the meaning actually expressed) and to interpret both the figurative language (metaphors, ironies, etc.), and the indirect speech acts.
The perspective will be essentially pragmatic; however, they will be introduced some topics of neuropragmatics interest, such as reflection on the way in which the mind produces and includes linguistic behaviors, both in healthy individuals and in people with neurological deficits.
