Extended program | The aim of the course is the analysis of the pragmatic aspects of linguistic communication. The knowledge of grammar will be integrated by the consideration of language as a communication system. The ability to interact through language involves, in fact, a complex set of skills that go far beyond language competence in the strict sense Verbal interaction involves the ability to operate on complex textual units, to elaborate and understand inferential plans, to recognize the link between text and context, to identify the function of each communicative act and the purposes for which it was developed.. These skills make it possible to correctly identify the 'meaning of speakers' (as well as the meaning actually expressed) and to interpret both the figurative language (metaphors, ironies, etc.)and the many indirect linguistic acts we use in our daily talk. The perspective will be essentially pragmatic; However, some topics of neuropragmatic interest will be introduced, such as reflection on how the mind produces and understands linguistic behaviors, both in healthy individuals and in people with neurological deficits. |
