international relations, with particular attention to the security system
collective of the United Nations and the role assumed by the major ones
regional organizations. The study of the three main branches of
international law applicable to armed conflicts (Ius ad bellum, Ius in
beautiful, Disarmament).
The second part of the course will be dedicated to in-depth studies on topics
selected, of particular relevance and / or relevance, also through
seminars and meetings with qualified experts.
Prerequisites
The Collective Security and International Law of Armed Conflicts course is
specialized and requires a thorough knowledge of international law.
Teaching methods
The course will be divided into lectures (delivered in compliance with the
departmental rules on the pandemic emergency), seminars and a series
of reports organized by the students (according to a schedule agreed in
the first lessons), which may concern both program topics and personal
insights.
Learning verification modality
The presentation of reports, active participation in discussions and
seminars and in-depth activities are strongly recommended, as they are
an integral part of the exam for attending students, giving the right to an
increase in the grade obtained in the oral exam from 1 to 5 points, to
provided that:
• at least 75% of the lessons are attended;
• present at least 1 relationship (but 2 or more relationships are strongly
encouraged).
The increase in the grade from 1 to 5 points depends on three factors in
the following proportion: 40% quantity and quality of the reports, 40%
personal ideas, 20% active participation in discussions and seminars.
Exam
A) Attending students
The exam is oral and in two phases: in the first, the candidate conducts
the discussion with the Commission on the program topics, excluding
those already presented in the reports, and gets a mark; in the second,
the mark already obtained is raised by 1 to 5 points by the teacher on the
basis of the parameters indicated above.
B) Non-attending students
For non-attending students, the exam takes place, on the same program,
in a single phase and the mark is that obtained in the oral interview. Nonattending
students who wish to present reports on the topics of the
course must agree in advance on the topics with the teacher, then
delivering one or more written reports to the teacher at least 15 days
before the exam date. These reports may determine an increase in the
grade up to a maximum of 3 points, calculated on the basis of only two
parameters: quantity and quality of the works (50%); personal insights
and insights (50%).
