The course program is organized into four parts: epistemological assumptions and theoretical challenges of social work; theoretical-operational models of social work; the emotional dimension in social work; the Code of Ethics for social workers.

Educational objectives
To provide students with the knowledge of the historical evolution of the profession of social worker and of the discipline of social service, with reference to the relevant historical and cultural contexts. Fundamental is the knowledge of the methodological procedure of social service in its phases, in relation to the theoretical-operational model chosen as reference. To understand the epistemological foundations, principles and values of the social work profession, as well as the code of ethics.
Prerequisites
It is preferable that the student has a humanistic-psychological background.
Teaching methods
Lectures. Seminar activities on specific topics with the possibility of involving experts.

Exercises through group work.
Learning verification modality
Oral examination with an interview lasting a maximum of thirty minutes.

At the end of the course, the teacher offers the option of a written test.
The written examination consists of multiple-choice questions and open questions on the content of the programme.
