Educational objectives | this course provides specialized training in the anatomic, physiologic, and pathologic process of musculoskeletal diseases, integumentary system, urogenital surgical procedures. Normal anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal system in carnivores and herbivores is presented initially. Assessment and management of clinical cases reported.Practical activities to be carried out in relation to clinical cases reported at the veterinary teaching hospital Section surgery. Evaluation and patient preparation, interpretation of radiographic, ultrasound, CT, relating to clinical cases. Exercises in operating theatre of the OVUD. Students according to the number will be divided into two groups, large and small animals and each group will play directly on the patient diagnostic procedures and / or surgical procedures acquired in previous years. |

Extended program | This course provides specialized training in the anatomic,physiologic, and pathologic process of musculoskeletal diseases in animals, with special emphasis on surgical diseases of tendons,bones, and joints.There are also largely discussion format andexamines surgical principles and surgery of the integumentary system. It is designed to review and discuss urogenital surgical procedures in animals and the rational basis for them. Pathophysiology will be stressed. The course provides specialized training in thoracic surgery techniques and application and discusses patho-physiologic implications of cardiopulmonary diseases. Normal anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal system in carnivores and herbivores is presented initially. This is followed by in-depth discussion of the pathophysiological mechanisms and sequelae of gastrointestinal obstructions including reperfusion injury, peritonitis, adhesions, and short bowel syndrome. The emphasis of this course is development of advanced understanding of surgically relevant gastrointestinal problems in carnivores and herbivores that lead to appropriate decision making. |
