- This course is an approach to the Golden Age drama from different (historical, performative, ecdotic) perspectives. Theater will be viewed not so much as a literary phenomenon, but as a spectacular event. To do this, after a brief introduction on the theory of theater, the material conditions of representation at the time (scenic spaces, actors, entertainment organization, cultural and economic context), the transmission of the extant dramatic texts (printed and manuscript playtexts), the phases of the diachronic development of the Spanish Baroque theater since its beginning (1570) up to the late seventeenth century according to their genres and subgenres diversity and evolution of the production of the main playwrights will be analyzed.
