- This course is designed for B1+/B2-level or higher students of Russian. It aims at providing students with communicative skills in the language corresponding to level B2+/C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR B2+/C1).

For the exam students will have to read and translate about 100 pages in Russian (prose, poetry, newspaper or journal articles, essays). - Educational objectives
- The course aims to develop linguistic and communicative skills in Russian language corresponding to B2+/C1 level of CEFR.
- Prerequisites
- The course of Russian Language I is intended for students who have already successfully taken the exam of Russian Language I of the Master’s Degree.
Topics covered in the module require knowledge of Russian language corresponding to level B1+/B2 or higher of the European Common Framework of Languages (CEFR B1+/B2 or higher).
Students have to possess intermediate linguistic and communicative skills in oral and written Russian, alongside the most relevant morphosyntactic structures of the Russian language. They have to be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions in Russian related to conversational topics, such as personal and family information, everyday life and culture, geography, employment; communicate in a simple way with native speakers on personal and everyday matters; describe in simple oral and written texts aspects of personal background, everyday life and current culture (indispensable prerequisites).
These prerequisites are valid both for attending and not attending students. - Teaching methods
- The course is organized as follows:
- Linguistic practical training held in Russian by the native language teacher at CLA;
- Classroom lectures, held by the course professor, on all the topics of the course. - Other information
- Photocopies and other teaching materials will be provided during classes, also in English.
To be admitted to the examination, students who do not attend classes must arrange in advance an alternative program with the course teacher.
For the exam students will have to read and translate about 100 pages in Russian (prose, poetry, newspaper or journal articles, essays). - Learning verification modality
- To sit the exam students must have already passed the test of Russian Language II at CLA (University Language Centre).
The exam includes a written test and an oral exam (unless otherwise specified by the Department).
The written test consists of a translation of a text from Russian into Italian with the help of a bilingual and/or monolingual dictionary, a short composition, as well as a translation from Italian into Russian and a discussion in Russian of about twenty phrases selected according to the topics covered during the course (duration: approximately 2 hours).
The oral exam consists of a discussion of the written test. Students have also to demonstrate that they have read, understood and translated about 100 pages in Russian (prose, poetry, newspaper and journal articles, essays, etc.). They have to answer questions on grammar and syntax and will discuss the texts they have read in Russian.
The examination verifies that students have achieved linguistic communicative competence corresponding to level B2 (CEFR B2+/C1).
The final grade is the average of the marks obtained in the various tests. - Extended program
- This course is designed for B1+/B2-level or higher students of Russian. It aims at providing students with communicative skills in the language corresponding to level B2+/C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR B2+/C1).
The course is divided into two parts: practical training and conversation held in Russian by a native-language teacher at the CLA, and lectures given by the course professor at the Department.
