Reference texts
During the course, students will work on scientific articles on plan and interventions evaluation. Along with scientific articles, reference books are: Levy R.A., Ablon J.S., Kachele H (2011). Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Research: Evidence-Based Practice and Practice-Based Evidence. Humana Press. Scientific articles on study protocol.

Any updates and slides will be posted on the course's Unistudium page, to which the student is referred.
Educational objectives
Aim of the course is to provide students with the core competences necessary to plan and evaluate psychological interventions.

Main knowledge acquired will be:
- main studies on psychotherapy research;
- strengths and weaknesses of studies on interventions efficacy and effectiveness;
- basic elements of intervention planning;
- strengths and weaknesses of projects on interventions planning.
The main competence (the ability to apply the acquired knowledge) will be:
- evaluation of the quality of studies on psychotherapy research;
- identification of the steps of project planning;
- ability to apply the acquired knowledge on psychological intervention planning.
Prerequisites
In order to be able to understand the planning and evaluation of psychological interventions, it is advisable a basic knowledge of the main intervention models.
Furthermore, it is advisable to be able to read and comprehend scientific articles in English
Teaching methods
The course is organized as follow:
- lectures on the core subjects of the course;
- classroom discussions and group work on course topics

Other information

Learning verification modality
The exam consists in a written test.
The written test consists of:
- multiple choice questions in order to verify the level of the knowledge of the topics covered in the course;
- open-ended questions that investigate different aspects of the program regarding both empirical research and intervention design.
For the exam the student will have 90 ' minutes of time available. This test will serve to determine the level of knowledge, understanding and elaboration of the topics covered by the student.

Extended program
Aim of the course is the acquisition by the students of the core competences necessary to plan and evaluate psychological interventions. For this purpose, the following issues will be initially addressed: studies on psychotherapy research and intervention models. Subsequently, articles and chapters on Psychological intervention planning and its evaluation will be deepen.
