Analysis of the deep cultural and figurative transformations that affected the Perugian and Umbrian area of ¿¿the Papal States in the 16th century. In-depth study of the situation of the historical and artistic environment created in Perugia and Umbria in the aftermath of the Salt War (1540).

Educational objectives
The student will be able to read the surrounding historical and artistic environment and be able to describe and argue on the main critical trends relating to the sixteenth century in Umbria.
Prerequisites
A good knowledge of the main figurative topics of the sixteenth century.
Teaching methods
Lectures with interactive dynamics and frequent student involvement. Educational visits to the National Gallery of Umbria and to the main settlements of the sixteenth century courts in Umbria.
Learning verification modality
Frequent dialogues that stimulate learning and comparison.
Extended program
Situation of the post-Perugian and post-Raphaelesque environment in Perugia. Historical impact of the Salt War on the city of Perugia and the province of Umbria. Farnese shipyards in Umbria. Organizational and cultural supervision of the territory by Giorgio Vasari. The settlement and strengthening of the dynastic courts: the della Corgna in Città della Pieve and Castiglion del Lago; the Vitelli in Città di Castello; the Bufalini in San Giustino; the Cesi in Acquasparta.
