Specific admission requirements

Formal Requirements Italian First cycle qualification (Laurea) in health professions of rehabilitation or foreign equivalent in the same or related subject area, with possible extra work if required competences are lacking.

Evaluation of specific subject knowledge on entry

Verification of the possession of the curricular requirements with the methods indicated in the academic regulation of the course of study Foreign students are required to take a test to verify their proficiency of the Italian language, except Erasmus Incoming students, Exchange Students and students in mobility as per the Cooperation Agreement

Profile of the programme

The objectives of the course are to develop in students a cultural and vocational training advanced to intervene with high skills in management processes, organizational, training and research in the relevant area of rehabilitation professions. Graduates develop an integrated approach to organizational and management issues in the health professions, skilled mastery of the techniques and health management procedures, in compliance with the own and others' skills. The acquired methodological knowledge also allows to intervene in the training and research processes peculiar to the aforementioned areas. The reference subject areas are represented by 'research area, area of law applies to health services, subject area, area of management, teaching area. In addition to classroom activities, the learning environment includes internship activities in accredited services chosen by the student to allow the development of a progressive acquisition of skills in the areas defined by the course's educational objectives: research methodology, management and didactic-training methodologies . The didactic activity makes use of the following methods: frontal lessons, practical exercises for groups of students, tutorial activity during the professional training, tutorial activity in laboratory practice, seminar activities. The evaluation of disciplinary examinations, is normally effected by means of an oral examination or written and evaluated in thirty; evaluation of the final test, represented by the discussion of a final paper (thesis) and assessed one hundred and ten. Graduates in relation to the acquired skills can find job opportunities in the National Health Service facilities (hospital and / or ASL and the departments of health professions) and private, in the organization of health services; in the design and implementation of training programs for updating and continuing education relating to health facilities, and to contribute to the training for each specific professional figure, with tutorial activities and coordination of the training and to compete directly updating their professional profile and looking.

Programme learning outcomes

Graduates will gain knowledge and understanding in the following areas: research, management, teaching-pedagogical and disciplinary. Briefly, the study path must allow: - Knowledge and mastery of the research methodology. - Knowledge of the statistical sciences applied to biomedical research and the sources of scientific updating aimed at the elaboration of original research protocols and the ability to interpret the data of epidemiological and experimental statistics to analyze complex phenomena and problems in the health field and of interest of the specific profile rehabilitation professional - Knowledge of the principles of private law, labor law and administrative law applicable to relations between administrations and users involved in health services; - Knowledge of business organization techniques and processes for optimizing the use of human, IT and technological resources; - Understanding of the principles of Legal Medicine and Occupational Medicine in light of the quality requirements imposed by current legislation on safety in the workplace and the prevention / management of risks related to the provision of care services - In-depth study of teaching and tutorial methodologies to implement teaching strategies in relation to evidence-based educational theories and practices. - Analysis of the training needs of the rehabilitation professions, formulating learning objectives, selecting appropriate learning activities, planning, implementing training courses relevant to the professional sphere. - Knowledge of the elements of psychology, pedagogy and sociology to deal with the complexity of the work processes of healthcare organizations, integration systems and multi-professional interactions in the rehabilitation field. - Knowledge of theories of communication and relational development at the level of the individual, groups and organizations and verbal, non-verbal and written communication techniques for managing interpersonal relationships with individuals, groups, patients and their families Regarding the ability to apply knowledge and understanding, graduates will have to: - Apply the methodology of an evidence-based practice to evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation treatments. - Critically evaluate the scientific literature to be able to apply it to professional choices - Knowing how to set up and / or actively collaborate in the development of a research project - Apply knowledge to analyze the work processes of healthcare organizations, staff management strategies, assessment and professional accreditation systems to promote multi-professional and organizational integration processes in services - Use indicators of effectiveness and efficiency considering the possible ethical, legal and deontological implications that may arise in rehabilitation practice. - Apply the psycho-pedagogical knowledge and the theories of learning from experience to carry out teaching, tutoring and training planning activities. - Knowing how to take care of interpersonal relationships in the work environment, harmonizing the contribution of different professionals

Qualification requirements and regulations

In order to be admitted to the final test, the student must have acquired all the credits foreseen in the study plan for training activities other than the final test. The final test for the achievement of the qualification is public and consists in the presentation to a specific commission of one's thesis work and consists in the elaboration of an experimental or theoretical application thesis concerning the deepening of aspects attributable to the areas of management, research, training and application of advanced professional methodologies specific to their subject area.

Examination regulations and grading scale

Assessment is normally an oral or written exam; in some cases there are intermediate exams during the course; other evaluation elements (seminars, reports, etc.) can be foreseen in specific course units and are described in the Course Unit Profiles. The grades for subject exams are measured in thirtieths (0-30 scale). The maximum grade can be enhanced with “cum laude” (30 cum laude). The final degree evaluation is expressed in one hundred and tenths (0-110 scale). The calculation of the final grade of each candidate takes into account the average of the grades obtained in the subject exams, as well as the quality of the work performed in research or in the final thesis which is discussed in public before an exam commission. “Cum laude” (110 cum laude) may be added to the maximum grade.

Work-based learning

The activity of guided internship in health services and public health training in Italy or abroad linked by specific agreements, flanks the traditional teaching activity and hesitates in a single final exam with vote. The internship allows a progressive assumption of responsibility and professional autonomy, within which students propose a targeted simulation and their intervention projects, integrating with the potential rehabilitation skills in the management reality of public structures. The internship activities are carried out with the supervision and guidance of professional tutors specifically designated and assigned to each learner, and coordinated by a teacher at the highest level of training provided for the profiles of the specific class and corresponding to the standards defined at European level where they exist.

Occupational profiles of graduates

Graduates in Rehabilitation Sciences of health professions have advanced cultural and professional training to intervene with high skills in management processes, organizational, training and research in the area relevant to the professions of rehabilitative area. The professional activity can be exercised in public and private structures, also authorized according to the current legislation, in relation to dependency or freelance. Master’s degrees in relation to skills acquired may find employment opportunities in SSN facilities (hospital and/or ASL and health professional departments) and in the organisation of health services; in the design and implementation of training measures for the updating and continuing training of health structures and in contributing to training for each specific professional figure, with tutorial and coordination activities of the internship and to participate directly in the updating related to their professional profile and research.
