Educational objectives
The aim is to transfer to future pharmacists the basics of toxicological knowledge necessary for the proper use and dispensing of drugs, herbal remedies, and related products.
Prerequisites
in order to be able to understand and apply the knowledge and methodology described within the course the student must have passed the Biology, Biochemistry and General Pharmacology exams.
Teaching methods
Seminar lectures with audiovisual material in order to engage students in a general discussion.

Discussion of clinical cases of adverse drug reactions with the aim to describe the involved mechanism and the risk management.
Learning verification modality
The exam consists of an oral test about the issues proposed during the class.
In order to put the student at ease the test begins with a subjet of his chose.
The duration of the test depend on the performance of the student, but is never less than 30 minutes

Principles of Toxicology: subjects of toxicology, exposure characteristics, risk assessment, types of adverse effects. Dose-response relationships, threshold effects, non-threshold effects, hormesis.
