Contents
This course represents students' first contact with geochemistry;
it examines the basics, fundamental principles of the subject and their connection with other areas of Earth and Planetary Sciences

Educational objectives
The main teaching objectives are: knowledge of the principles
fundamentals of geochemistry and their connections with other areas of earth and planetary sciences.
the main knowledge acquired (knowledge/knowledge) will be:
knowledge of the fundamental laws of cosmochemistry and the origin of elements and isotopes;
distribution and abundance of elements in the main geochemical reservoirs, solid Earth, oceans, atmosphere;
knowledge of the main processes governing the mobility of the elements.
Major skills (can-do skills) will be:
geochemical classification of elements; mass balances; ability to connect acquired knowledge with other areas of the geosciences
Prerequisites
In order to understand the content and be able to apply most of the techniques described in the course, it is strongly recommended that you have taken the chemistry and mineralogy exams.
Teaching methods
Lectures on all course topics. Laboratory and field work
Other information
Teaching materials are distributed through the online platform, unistudium (http://unistudium.unipg.it)
Learning verification modality
In itinere assessments and final oral examination.
The in itinere assessments will be used to track the learning progress during the course and the level of knowledge
and understanding achieved by the student on the theoretical and methodological contents of the course (knowledge/knowledge).
The oral test, lasting approximately 30 minutes, will test the student's presentation skills and the ability to apply the knowledge acquired
(skills/knowledge)
