Educational objectives
The course has the goal to learn the use of word processors and worksheets, with the application to the concepts and the basic methodologies of descriptive statistics and probability.
Prerequisites
No precondition is required. Any experience on the use of personal computer can be useful.
Teaching methods
Lectures with the help of personal computers and individual exercises assiste
Learning verification modality
The assessment will be made through a written exam, whose aim is to verify the student's knowledge about the use of a spreadsheet and a text editor.During the course there are two exemptions concerning the two topics separately. If the student is successful in both two exemptions is exempt from the final exam. The first exemption is provided in the middle of the course and the second at the end of the course. The duration of each test will be about 1 hour. The final assessment is the average of the marks obtained in the two exemptions or in the final test.
Extended program
Through the use of Open Office the program includes: the use of the spreadsheet for data entry and processing, insertion of library functions, insertion of logical functions and graphs for applications of descriptive statistics concepts and calculation of probability and for calculation of formulas mathematics; use text editor to format a text, introduce titles, tables, images and hyperlinks; use of the formula tool for writing mathematical formulas.
