Elements of genetics of microorganisms in environmental conditions
Culture dependent and culture independent methodologies to define microbiota and microbiomes of environmental interest.
Functions of microorganisms in the environment, bio-geochemical cycles.
Disposal and reuse of fossil plastics and bioplastics.
Environmental applications: monitoring, environmental markers, bioremediation, composting, energy production.
One Health approach to environmental microbiology; ecosystemic services, economical importance of environmental microorganisms.

Educational objectives
Knowledge and understanding of the structure and biological properties of microorganisms in environmental situations. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of mathematical, physical, statistical and IT models for the analysis and processing of information and experimental data relating to biological systems and processes; Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of the main microbiological investigation techniques.
