Educational objectives
The main aim of this teaching is to provide the students with the bases for the recognition and description of: 1) individual human bones, their topographical position and their ossification processes; 2) the various types of joints; 3) the origin and insertion and effects of the contraction of skeletal muscle of limbs, abdominal wall and thorax; 4) macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of internal organs; 5) the anatomical and functional organization of the central nervous system.
Prerequisites
Students should have general information of solid geometry and physics of fluids and gasses in order to be able to understand the themes of the present discipline.
Teaching methods
Face-to-face lectures with the use of powerpoint slides. Use of plastic models related to the topics developed at lessons. The education material presented during the lectures (with the exclusion of illustrations protected by copyright) will be made available to the students in electronic format (pdf files) and it does not replace the use of suggested books.
Learning verification modality
The exam will consist of an oral test of about 20 minutes with the aim to ascertain the degree of knowledge and ability to understand attained by the student regarding the theoretical and methodological contents indicated in the program. The oral test will make it possible to evaluate the student’s ability to illustrate and summarize a given subject. The oral test may be preceded by a written test (open answer questions).
Extended program
The cell. Tissues and apparatuses.
The heart and great vessels. Macroscopic and microscopic anatomy of the respiratory apparatus. Diaphragm and muscles of the abdominal wall. Principal macroscopic and microscopic aspects of the esophagus, stomach, small and gross intestine, and liver. Principal macroscopic and microscopic aspects and vessels of the urinary apparatus. Principal macroscopic and microscopic aspects of endocrine glands. General characteristics and position of principal bones, joints and muscle compartments. Central nervous system: telencephalon, diencephalon, brainstem, cerebellum, spinal cord. Peripheral nervous system: spinal roots, spinal ganglia. Autonomic nervous system.
