- Knowing the impact that culture has on the system of values, needs and behaviors
- Knowing how to accommodate and facilitate access to the various services that the health system provides to immigrants
- Create training projects or the implementation of services for multicultural population.

Learning verification modality
The exam consists of a written test (multiple choice test and short composition).The test evaluates knowledge in theoretical and Methodological Discipline of Nursing. The expected time for the performance of the test is 60 minutes.

Educational objectives The general objective of this teaching is to provide the students with the knowledge and the tools to frame the formative processes in order to elaborate projects of professional and personal life.
The main skills the students will acquire are:
the formation as expectation on the future;
the power of the expectations in the formative field starting from the researches on the “placebo effect” and on the “Pygmalion effect”;
the self-fulfilment prophecies;
the formation of a personal and professional identity during the university curriculum;
the nexus between formation and prevention;
the professionalization, the updating and the formation for the whole of life;
the open issue of the problem of the “obedience” in educational and working contexts: Milgram’s experiment;
the persuasion of the majority: Asch’s experiment;
formation and prevention of the professional uneasiness: the health of those who promote it.
Prerequisites In order to be able to understand and to know how to tackle the course the students must have the tools and the notions acquired by a high secondary school diploma and the students must have attended the first two university years, as well as the willingness:
to ask others and themselves new questions;
to take an active and involving part in the lessons;
to exercise curiosity;
if attending, to keep the “formative agreement” explained at the beginning of the lessons.
Teaching methods The course will be organized in the following way:
Lectures and lessons in circle on all the above mentioned topics;
Organization of the students in one learning group subdivisible into extemporary working groups;
Projections of films, videos and documentaries used as starting points and as training ground for work groups in order to apply what explained in the lessons.

Learning verification modality During the lessons the occasion of evaluation and self-evaluation will depend on the students’ willingness:
to ask others and themselves new questions;
to take an active and involving part in the lessons;
to exercise curiosity;
if attending, to keep the “formative agreement” explained at the beginning of the lessons:
For the attending students the exam includes a written test at the end of the lessons consisting in answering to two open questions concerning the topics dealt with during the course and examined in depth the didactic material given at the beginning of the lessons. Such a test has a duration of one hour. For the attending students such a test will come after an evaluation and elf-evaluation test which will be used to average the mark only if the mark obtained can favourably influence the mean achieved in association with the result of the following and unavoidable written test,
All the tests aim at ascertaining the level of knowledge and the capacity of understanding, as well as of synthesis achieved by the students.

International and Erasmus students are invited to attend the course. Readings and other course material are also available in English; oral exam, as detailed in the course program, may be taken in English. Please contact the teacher for further details and to schedule an appointment during the first week of the Fall Semester.
Contents The program deals with the analysis of the concepts of health and family from a sociological perspective.
In particular, we will discuss how the concepts have changed over time and we will proceed to a historical-social reconstruction of the evolution of family forms.
Reference texts Handouts will be distributed during the lessons.
Educational objectives At the end of the course the students will have adequately understood the social dimensions of the topics of health and family, and the main evolutionary processes of these phenomena. This will allow them to exercise their future professional activity in a more conscious and competent way.
Prerequisites To properly understand the content of the teaching is not required to have special prerequisites and skills.
Teaching methods Teacher up-front lessons and classroom discussions with the students on the topics of the course.
Learning verification modality The exam consists of an oral examination lasting about twenty minutes.
The exam is essentially aimed at determining: 1) the level of knowledge and understanding of the content of the teaching programme;
2) language and communication skills;
34) the ability to explain what has been learned in a critical and independent way.

Extended program The program deals with the analysis of health and family issues from a sociological perspective.
In particular, we will analyze the different meaning attributed to the concepts of health and illness over time and space.
We will then discuss the main techniques and tools for evaluating the quality of social-welfare-health services.
The final part of the course will be devoted to the analysis of the evolution of the family phenomenon, the birth of new forms of family and the implications that this entails for the care and assistance services.
